About TTPB

Take the Power Back (TTPB) is a student-first career platform and community that gives ambitious students direct control over their career paths. We connect students with employers across all industries who value talent, potential, and drive - bypassing traditional gatekeepers like career centers and HR departments. Whether you're interested in startups, established companies, remote work, or launching your own venture, Take the Power Back puts you in direct contact with the decision-makers who can advance your career.

Unlike traditional job boards, Take the Power Back is built specifically for ambitious students who want to take control of their careers. We focus on:

  • Direct employer-to-student connections with no gatekeepers or intermediaries
  • Compensation transparency on all job postings
  • Student-first design that puts your career goals ahead of institutional priorities
  • Quality over quantity with curated opportunities across all industries
  • Direct access to decision-makers whether they're at startups, scale-ups, or established companies

Community and control - you decide your path, not career centers or algorithms

Take the Power Back was founded by Jason Mickool, who built Florida Financial Advisors into 7+ direct brands and companies with many additional affiliates, achieving Inc. 5000 recognition. One of Jason's core business strategies throughout this growth was recruiting, hiring, and developing ambitious, growth-minded students rather than relying on traditional hiring methods.

Through years of this approach, Jason experienced firsthand the frustrating barriers that career centers and their platforms put between ambitious students and real opportunities. He watched career gatekeepers consistently filter out the most exciting growth opportunities, keeping students from even knowing these paths existed. After building multiple successful companies by finding and developing student talent that others overlooked, Jason created Take the Power Back to eliminate these gatekeepers and give students direct access to the opportunities that traditional systems hide from them.

We feature opportunities across all industries and company stages, with a focus on employers who value ambitious students and offer meaningful growth potential. This includes:

  • Startups and scale-ups looking for high-impact team members
  • Established companies launching new initiatives or seeking fresh talent
  • Remote-first companies building distributed teams
  • Traditional companies with progressive hiring approaches
  • Organizations offering competitive compensation, equity, or performance-based rewards
  • Companies that prioritize potential and drive over just GPA and pedigree

While we have a strong focus on entrepreneurial opportunities (more than any other platform), we're not limited to them. We're about connecting ambitious students with employers who will invest in their growth.

Students have landed roles across diverse industries - from marketing associates at tech companies to analysts at consulting firms, from product roles at consumer brands to positions in finance, healthcare, and beyond. What they all have in common is finding employers who valued their potential and gave them meaningful opportunities to grow and make an impact from day one.

For Student Entrepreneurs

The Take the Power Back Incubator Hub (also called the Arena) is a dedicated space for student entrepreneurs to showcase their startups, connect with co-founders, find mentors, and access resources for building their companies. It's designed specifically for students who are creating their own opportunities rather than just seeking employment.

While our job board connects students with existing opportunities, the Incubator Hub is for students creating their own:

  • Showcase your startup to potential co-founders, employees, and mentors
  • Find co-founders with complementary skills and shared vision
  • Access resources for startup building, from legal templates to growth strategies
  • Connect with mentors who have built successful companies

Network with peers who are also on the entrepreneurial path

Yes! Student entrepreneurs can post opportunities for co-founders, early employees, and interns. You can specify whether you're offering equity, eventual salary, or other forms of compensation as your startup grows.

Our Incubator Hub provides, either through mentoring or content resources:

  • Templates for equity agreements, NDAs, and other legal documents
  • Guides for MVP development, customer discovery, and fundraising
  • Access to our network of entrepreneur mentors and advisors
  • Peer groups for accountability and support
  • Connections to potential investors and accelerators

Create a startup profile that includes:

  • Your vision and mission statement
  • The problem you're solving and your solution approach
  • Your target market and early traction (if any)
  • What roles you're looking to fill (co-founder, early employee, advisor)
  • Your background and what unique perspective you bring

For Employers

Take the Power Back gives you direct access to pre-qualified ambitious students who want to take control of their careers. Unlike traditional job boards where you compete with hundreds of postings and deal with unengaged applicants, Take the Power Back connects you with students who:

  • Actually read job descriptions and apply thoughtfully
  • Are motivated by growth opportunities and meaningful work
  • Value transparency and direct communication
  • Want to make a real impact regardless of industry or company size
  • Are willing to invest in companies that invest in them

We eliminate common hiring inefficiencies by connecting you with engaged, ambitious students:

  • Pre-screened candidates who are genuinely interested in growth opportunities across all industries
  • Direct communication without HR gatekeepers or career center filters slowing down the process
  • Transparent expectations with compensation and role details upfront
  • Quality over quantity with fewer but more thoughtful applications

Faster responses since students actively engage with the platform and check regularly for opportunities

Take the Power Back students are typically:

  • Ambitious and driven across all fields and career interests
  • Seeking direct access to decision-makers rather than going through layers of gatekeepers
  • Interested in companies that will invest in their growth and potential
  • Willing to take on responsibility and ownership of their work
  • Looking for meaningful opportunities where they can make a real impact
  • Motivated by transparency, growth, and the chance to build their careers alongside great teams

For privacy protection, you can only view detailed profiles of students who have applied to your specific job postings. However, you can see aggregate statistics about how many active students match your general criteria (location, graduation year, field of study, etc.) to gauge potential application volume.

Posting jobs is free while we grow the community. Over time, we’ll introduce optional premium features for employers, and resume database access will become our primary revenue model. At launch, there are no fees or packages. If you’d like to stay updated when premium features roll out, you can join our mailing list or get in touch with our team.

All job postings must include:

  • Transparent compensation information (salary range, equity, bonuses)
  • Clear role responsibilities and growth opportunities
  • Company stage and funding information
  • Remote/location requirements
  • Required vs. preferred qualifications

We source opportunities through two channels:

  1. Direct employer submissions where companies post jobs manually following our posting guidelines
  2. Curated feeds from partner networks like JBoard, which we review and filter to ensure they meet our quality and transparency standards

All jobs undergo moderation before going live to ensure they align with our student-first mission.

We'll contact you directly to discuss necessary changes. Minor issues (like missing compensation details) can usually be resolved quickly. Posts that fundamentally misrepresent opportunities or companies may be removed, but we always work with employers to find compliant ways to showcase their opportunities.
